How many times have we come across the saying and yet do we really acknowledge what Virgil said that “The greatest wealth is health?”.
If you are wondering why I have “disappeared” after announcing how I intended to celebrate Foreclosure Investing Philippines’ 3rd anniversary, I simply got sick.
Actually I have been sick for the past 11 days and it all started with a flu, then each time I felt better, I would try to do things as if everything was normal. This actually made things worse.

I stayed in bed for stretches of a couple of days, trying to get as much rest as as I can. But I think each time I got better, I would tend to believe that I have fully recovered, and then I would over-exert myself. This makes me sick again.
To make matters worse, even our PLDT DSL connection is acting up and is becoming more consistently offline (my saving grace is Sun’s wireless broadband) and this blog’s wordpress theme is acting up (because of a plugin I tried to install) as well and any change I introduce on the design of the homepage somehow destroys the formatting (Thank God for backups!), and these added even more to my stress.
Anyway, now I’m just trying to recover from this severe cough with sinusitis that I have and I truly hope I am on my way to real recovery.
I am starting my week on a Thursday and I hope I can back into the groove without jeopardizing my health (again), and the people around me (yup, whatever I have appears to be contagious).
Another reminder and lesson learned.
Take care of your health everyone!

This reminds me of an old article I wrote way back Jan 2010 on why your health is more important than your wealth…
“If your wealth is a number, your health would be the leading “1” on a $1,000,000,000 (one trillion dollar) jackpot. All the other zeroes represent your material wealth – a house, a car, your investments, family, friends, etc. As you can see, without the “1” in front, it will just be $0,000,000,000 which is basically NOTHING.”

Hi Allan, I now feel a lot better, thanks!
Although I feel I might be stressing myself again because I am working hard “renovating” foreclosurephilippines.com ever since a failed install of the wordpress plugin named “Jetpack”. I had to restore exported data to a fresh install of wordpress.
I really like what you wrote in that nice article of yours, thanks for sharing!
Get well soon kuya Jay. It looks like a lot of people are getting sick lately, especially w/ colds or flu. Must be the changing weather conditions? Or perhaps it’s a sign that Christmas season is finally here. 🙂
Cheers to good health!

I totally agree with the saying. Aside from feeling medicine expenses, I feel that the time that I could have used to work and earn some money is wasted lying in bed and feeling helpless. I have been taking my health for granted lately. I am grateful for the reminder. I hope you get well soon.
Thanks Daniel, yes I am feeling so much better! 🙂
Thanks Christian!
Bro,
Parehong pareho nangyari sa atin. Though, I’m still half recovering today. Three times nagrecur ung sakit ko (flu-like symptoms). Every time I got ‘well’ I tried to get back to work and then boom, balik ulit sakit ko. Maybe three kinds of viruses. Tapos umikot pa sa aming magasawa at mga anak ko.
Nice to know you’re getting well bro.
God bless.
In my case, the very start was already a big mistake. The first time I had flu like symptoms, I still drove my wife to Makati and spent the night out celebrating our friend’s birthday. Next day was horrible but I felt better after staying in bed for two days. Then I decided to go to a bank to get info for a lot of inquiries… bam, sick again, but this time it was the cough with sinusitis.
Then I decided to completely rest. Later my sister prescribed Zithromax to me and my wife, very potent antibiotic! That did it (along with water therapy for me) and I believe I we are finally cured!
By the way, umiikot din ito sa bahay namin, I was the third victim, and after me, my wife and her mom and dad also got sick. 🙁
Buti na lang we are all getting better now. 🙂
Hi Jay, Health is Wealth. I’ve had similar experiences last year when I was very active in blogging monitoring blog traffic almost 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Just rests once in a while. Exercise and take vitamins. I remembered this saying which circulated in Facebook. It’s from Dalai Lama saying that man surprised him the most about humanity saying:
“Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live as if he is never going to die, and then he dies having never really lived.”
Thanks Tyrone for sharing those very wise words from the Dalai Lama. It sounded very familiar, much like the rat race! Cheers!
hello bro. jay,
with your condition, can i recommend barley? yes, it’s a superfood and very effective, from a to z health concerns. you can search about it in the internet and you can discover it’s amazing effects in our bodies. our capsule is only P15 each while our sachet is P65 each, at once a day regimen, it’s already okey. you can check our site: http://www.santehub.com.
by the way, april boy regino recovered prostate cancer from taking our products. please try it and good luck.
i am very much please to hear from you if you’re interested more. coz there’s more at stake aside to the potential benefits of barley. email me bro. thanks.
Ramil Alquileta who used to be a friend of mine also mentioned barley… sounds very interesting. Thanks for the info…
You’re right we have to keep ourselves healthy and that responsibility is on us! Remember not to over fatigue yourselves. Proper diet and exercise is important. And when we are sick, take the needed rest and drink lots of water plus medication too.
Lots of water… I did that too and I think it really helped! Thanks!
Health is Wealth. 🙂 Get well soon! 🙂
Thanks! Feeling better already! 🙂
I absolutely agree with you Jay. If you are healthy, you have the strength and creativity to build wealth.
Get well soon.
Thanks OK Pinoy!
Mr Jay…try my supplement….I’m as workaholic as you are, I do multitasking jobs, anything under the sun……I almost gave up on everything I do when I got sick, not a simple sickness that is …..complicated with diabetes……Doctors would advice you if your sickness become chronic, you will have to assess age and lifestyle (eating habit or food intake, smoking, sleeping hours…etc..)….those that manifested out from a simple common colds or flu can only be symptom, a symptom that is good for you to pay attention that there is something going on in your body. Don’t ignore it. “Health is Wealth”. Doctors would say…”Prevention is better than Cure”
Hi Hector, I suppose in my case it’s about strengthening my resistance and avoiding “sick” people (I was the third to get sick with this in our household).
I will be visiting my doctor this week, my bloodchem are all excellent by the way. 🙂
I hope and pray you’ll conquer/manage diabetes, just like Gary V. God bless you!
Sir Jay:
Hope you’ll get better and better each day…
Thanks Lance! By the way, I got your email and I will be posting your listing next. I’m back to work… feeling so much better… hehe!
maybe you also need to distress jay. laugh more often and insert more doses of “fun” times in your work week 🙂 sometimes the best treats are just free! like an afternoon siesta, walking with the dog or playing with your son and wife, meetup with old friends 🙂 and a day of just goofing around with “no business talk” 😛
You got that right chiq, all of the above are are highly recommended, along with nice quiet and peaceful sleep with no distractions. Idol/mentor talaga kita! 🙂
Hi Sir Jay,
Yeah with the weather and environment today, everyone should be really watchful on their health. Just asking, do you take supplements? May I recommend to you USANA products, especially Essentials since it has really helped me and my family a lot!
Yun lang!
Good day!
Hi Maricar, yes I already have them (a friend gave me a sample but I still need to get clearance from my cardio). Thanks for dropping by!
Definitely agree with you. Our health is very important because if we are not healthy, it affects everything we do.
An 11-day flu sounds too long. Better get a medical checkup just to be sure.
Hi Willeus, actually the flu lasted for just 3 days, then the cough with phlegm/sinusitis set in. After a week with the cough, my sister (who is a doctor) advised me to take zithromax for 3 days. That did it, now I know I am really getting better. Thanks for the comment, cheers!
